Baby Fever….

Hey pretty friends!
I first shared this post over at The Foley Fam, but I’ve decided to share it here too!
I finally worked up the nerve to share it on my own blog… haha.

So.. Here we go….

Babies. I got the fever yo!

The hubs and I are at that point where we’ve been married almost a year… That’s not that long, but consider we were together for five years before that… so we’ll call this year #6!

All of our friends are starting families! OK, maybe not all of them… But THREE of my six bridesmaids have a bun in the oven right now! That’s 50%. Half. Shall I reiterate? You get the point.

Wanna guess which three?? 😉 Haha...

It just so happens I am much too wimpy to shout it out on my own blog where friends and family members can give me grief. {Edit: OK, I finally worked up the nerve… be kind!!!} You know… that SIL that keeps pestering you for a niece/nephew. Yep, I have three of those + my sister, Kayli! 😉 Love em all to death, but if I mentioned my recent case of baby fever, they’d be all over that like… Something that gets all over something else. hahaha!

My plea to you? What advice do you have for a young couple thinking of starting a family??
Got any fun baby shower ideas saved up you’d wanna share? Remember, THREE of my best friends are preggers!
What about you? Caught the fever too? Already have a family started?

I’m all about making friends in this bloggie world, so if you have no interest whatsoever in anything baby related, that’s cool too, just tell me something random about you! And share your blog link in the comments! I’d love to stop by and check it out! :) Ready, go!

I’m linking this to…

  1. I didn’t got baby fever until 4 years after we got married! But we’ve only been dating 1 year before that. But once we started thinking about having a baby I was seeing pregnant ladies all over and on TV all the programs seems to be based on babies!!!
You will totally know when is the right time for you :)
And here is an amazing baby shower I came across yesterday: http://blog.hwtm.com/2012/05/in-full-bloom-a-french-baby-shower/

  2. no baby fever for me– I want us to wait atleast 4 years—I think that since you all have been together for that long that it is a good time! WE have alot more traveling and adventures to go on b4 we have kids! How many do you want?? ps check out my party party party board and baby love boards on Pinterest–I have some cute stuff pinned!!
    EEEKKKK–so excited for you

    • Kassi @ Truly Lovely says:

Yep, I totally get that!! I’m sure we could always use more adventures, but we have had our share over the last six years too! haha! I don’t know how many… maybe two. Three at most… Not really sure! Thanks for the board suggestions girl! Off to check them out!

  3. I’m pregnant right now! I’m just anxious to get started getting the room ready and to have my baby shower! You’re at an exciting time in your life!

    • Kassi @ Truly Lovely says:

CONGRATS Jennifer!! That’s SO exciting! Hope your shower and everything goes perfectly!

  4. Oh my gosh, I have baby fever too! We’ve been married about a year, but together about six too. Something else we have in common? We got married in the woods and our colors were pink and blue too (just different shades). We are still in school though and decided babies were in the five year plan (down to four years now!). The cure to baby fever for me? Spending time with my mama friends. I have one friend in particular who has two baby boys who’s had a really hard time with transitioning into mamahood. I always leave there motivated to keep taking those pills. Excited for you guys though!

    • Kassi @ Truly Lovely says:

Sounds like we have a LOT in common! So fun! :) Oh, yeah! A definite chiller for the baby fever is babysitting someone else’s babies! haha. 😉

  5. Oh, man. I have baby fever, too. We got married in August of 2010, but we only knew each other for 6 months before that, so we’re at the point where… we’re not really trying, but we’re not really NOT trying, if you know what I mean! 😉

  6. Katherine says:

Girrrrrl! My advice is do it…when you’re ready. I seriously don’t think there’s ever the perfect time to have a kid but they are lifes BIGGEST Blessing! Oh and just imagine all of the blogging material you’ll have too! YES

    • Kassi @ Truly Lovely says:

That’s what my mom has always said to… You won’t be ready until you have to be! :) Thanks for the encouragement sweet friend!!!

  7. jessica says:

kassi, we got married in the woods too! and all my girls wore cowboy boots and i have baby fever bad, have had it for years…and i’m a nanny. hard on this girl! haha

    • Kassi @ Truly Lovely says:

Sweet!!! Sounds like our wedding! Only I wore cowboy boots during the ceremony even! haha. My girls wore black heels/shoes and then changed after… I bet that’s hard! Especially with a cutie like lil bit to hang out with all the time! 😉

  8. My favorite thing I did was reveal the gender at the baby shower. We found out and told a few family members, but didn’t tell anybody else. It was mostly so I didn’t wind up with a million pink things for baby girl.

I’d also advise to baby proof (cords tucked away, sharp objects moved) well before you need to. Baby proofing while the baby is getting into everything is not so much fun.

    • Kassi @ Truly Lovely says:

That sounds like a fun idea!! :) I always thought a gender reveal party would be so fun! Baby proofing is also a great idea! My house is fairly kid proof as in older kiddos (nieces and nephews) but I’m sure baby proofing is another story!

  9. I hear you on the baby fever part. We’ve been married almost 4 yrs and b/c I have to work we aren’t having babies b/c I want to be a stay at home mom. However more recently some things have changed and it’s more of an option. I see babies everywhere and the preggy mommies, It’s killin’ me :)

    • Kassi @ Truly Lovely says:

Yeah, I work full time as well, so figuring out how that would work is high on our to do list!

  10. Ah baby fever. My only question is have to gotton out your wanting to party and how much to you like sleep? I thought that babies didnt sleep much when they were newborns. I was wrong. lol. I have two now and my 2 year old wakes up at 6am every day even saturdays and my 8 month old I am lucky because she only wakes up once at 3am and then is up at either 5:30am or 6am… So getting sleep if hard, because you can’t nap when they nap like every one says because you have to get stuff done then…As for getting out. say goodbye to that. Every couple I know with kids, went from hanging out with friends often and going out on the weekends, and now getting out is like once a month or a few months. Getting alone time is non-existant. My husband was alone in the house for 24 hours once because I took the kids out of town for a wedding. First time in 2 years. lol.

Okay now that I shared the two big changes in our lives we underestimates, let me get you all excited. They are snuggly and with your first you will want to stare at them all day. Tv what? Every little smile or giggle or anything will make you beam with pride. Your baby will be the most beautiful baby you have ever seen.

Oh and on being pregnant, I am sure you can see from the friends that surround you but it’s awesome until like month 7-9 when you are miserable and over it. Warn your hubby and have him circle his calendar that you need to be super pampered. Birth is truely the most painful expirience ever (my meds didnt take both times, so I had them all natural). And you will never ever regret having kids, well atleast i dont. despite what we gave up. Nothing could ever be worth having over what having kids gives you.

I wish you luck. Oh and have fun creating one. One of the best times in human making. 😉

    • Kassi @ Truly Lovely says:

Ah Mandi!! You CRACK me up!!! :) Thanks for balancing the not to exciting with the exciting! :)

  11. I don’t have any baby fever tips, sorry! BUT I found a super cute idea for a baby shower on Pinterest! Link: http://www.chiccheapnursery.com/2011/baby-shower/baby-shower-shower-party-decorating-ideas/

I know whatever decision you’ll make is the right one! Good luck!

    • Kassi @ Truly Lovely says:

Oh my goodness that shower is TOO cute!!! :) Thanks so much for sharing Kate!!!

  12. OH MY GOSH!!! I can not wait for you to be preggo!! Shall I have a talk with Nate? LOL! If you ask David he’ll tell you that Nate needs to eat meat and potatoes and you need to cater to his every whim. No, lie…he thinks that’s the secret! *scoffs* men!

    • Kassi @ Truly Lovely says:

So uh, we won’t be having David telling Nate any such thing… hahahaha!

  13. Visiting from Serenity Now…. Ah yes, baby fever. I definitely think there is something in the water lately! I am expecting my 2nd little girl this September. (We already have a 5yr old girl). It is life changing no doubt about that, but so worth it! I can’t wait for little one to get here (Especially because we live in Tx and its already upper 90s… I get to waddle my way through the entire summer lol).

    • Kassi @ Truly Lovely says:

Thanks for the visit girl! :) Oh to be pregnant in summer, right!?!

  14. Vicki @ Crowning Victoria says:

Oh girl, I want a baby so badly but the timing just isn’t right. Mike needs a job, we need a bigger place, and again, the timing isn’t right.
But I have the fever, oh do I! It helps (or maybe it doesn’t!) that 2 coworkers and a bestie just had a babe, and I get to cuddle their wee-ones for the time being :)

    • Kassi @ Truly Lovely says:

I hear ya girl! Three of my best friends are expecting so I am living vicariously right now! haha.

  15. I am so happy you linked this on my blog today! I have been getting baby on the brain too which is crazy because I have sworn off getting preggo again for the next two years. I guess its because my youngest is the same age my oldest was when I got preggo with the youngest. If that makes any sense. I know I do not want another baby right now even though I totally want more babies. lol. How is the baby brain going now? Is is still running rampid?

    • Kassi @ Truly Lovely says:

Yep, I get it! :) Totally makes sense! Oh man… baby brain is nuts, right?! haha. It’s completely still rampant. I’m assuming it probably will stay that way for awhile. :)
