St. Patrick’s Day Burlap Wreath with Monogram

I guess I’m just in a wreath making mood… 😉 Did you see my Valentine/Spring wreath? Well here’s my St. Patrick’s Day wreath for March!

I followed this . I looked on Pinterest and found a couple of methods but that one looked the easiest and it worked fine for me! You can get the green burlap from any craft store. They even have it at Wal-Mart. I used a roll and a half because that’s what I had, but you could use more and make it fuller.

I got the M from the Wal-Mart craft section and painted it with Extreme Sparkle paint in Emerald. Love the glittery look! I embellished it with a few clover stickers, also from Wal-Mart in the cards section.

The whole thing took me less than an hour to make including drying time on the paint. Yay for quick wreaths and a rainy day project!!!

Do you decorate for St. Patrick’s Day?? I’ll be honest… this is my only decoration so far!! 😉

Rustic Valentine’s Day and Spring Interchangeable Wreath

Friends!!!! I’m still here, I know it’s been a LONG time, but sometimes, life just happens and the blogging doesn’t. But I am BACK today with a craft for you!

We have moved again, long story, ask me about it sometime, but long story short, we’re in a new place for awhile and our pretty red front door needed a wreath! Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner that’s what I went with…

Materials needed:
Wreath form
Burlap ribbon
Pink Handkercheif
Scissors
Glue Gun
Flowers
Not pictured: Twine, scrapbook paper, alphabet stickers, glue dots

Step 1: Wrap your wreath form in burlap ribbon. I wrapped mine twice because you could see the form through the ribbon with just one layer. I also glued each end on to make sure the burlap stayed put with hot glue.

Step 2: Create your wreath hanger with the pink handkerchief. I just cut a strip from the square and glued it to the wreath form, then tied a bow at the end so it would hang from my wreath hanger correctly. Then I reinforced the glue with tacks to make sure it held.

Step 3: Embellish your wreath with flowers. Again, YAY for hot glue! I just glued each of my flowers to the wreath form.

Step 4: This was where I had planned to be finished initially, but decided the wreath needed a little something more to make it more holiday centric and just finished. 😉 So I cut some little pendants out of pink scrapbook paper with my Silhouette, tagged them with some black alphabet stickers and made a little LOVE banner! I strung it across the wreath with pink twine (glued the pendants on with glue dots) and gold tacks.

Step 5: Since I’m all about multi-purpose these days, especially after moving twice in three months… Less is more! I made a SPRING banner using blue scrapbook paper and different pendants that I can change out on the wreath after Valentine’s Day!

Felt Purse Quiet Book Page

I’ve been thinking for awhile that my daughter needed a Quiet Book to use for things like Church or waiting in the dr’s office. In case you’re unversed, like my husband who said upon hearing I planned to make a quiet book, “Cool. What’s that?”, a quiet book is a book of “games” and activities for little ones that don’t make any sound. Again, perfect for those quiet places like church or riding in the car for vacation!

So, I did some research, enter Pinterest, and found there are several kinds of quiet books. Fabric, felt, combination, etc. I decided to make mine entirely out of felt. I’m using a sheet of felt for each page thus cutting down on the need to cut and sew fabric. And I’m using felt for most of the activity pieces. I pinned several fun page ideas, asked friends for ideas and decided on the pages I wanted to make and what I would need.

Today I finished the first page for her book and thought I’d share each page with you all as I go along, culminating with the book as a whole as well as some fun ideas I found along the way when all is finished. So, here’s the first one, a Felt Purse Quiet Book page.

The only materials you need for this page are felt for the page, the purse, the flap and the goodies for inside the purse. You’ll also need Velcro dots for the flap fastener and yarn to attach the goodies going into the purse.

I just hand drew the purse onto the felt and cut it out. Then you’ll sew the flap down onto the felt. You could just hot glue it too if sewing isn’t your thing. It gets attached first so you can fold it over the purse body to make the flap.

Then you’ll sew the purse body to the page, fold the flap over and attach your Velcro dots to the purse and flap to make your closure.

I also sewed on a cute felt “button” for the front of the purse flap.

I cut out some green felt for “paper” money, orange felt for quarters, pink felt for a hand mirror and purple felt for Chapstick. You know, the necessities every girl needs. 😉 I just drew on each piece with a permanent marker, then cut a small hole to attach a piece of white yarn. The other end of each piece of yarn was sewn inside the purse so that when she’s playing with the pieces they won’t get lost!

And that’s it! I think it took me about thirty minutes to make the entire page. At that rate surely I’ll get the entire book finished before we go on vacation in a month… Hopefully. 😉

Personalized Hanging Bow Holders

It’s been a long while since I’ve shared a DIY or tutorial here on le blog… So it’s about time for one don’t you think?? That’s what happens when you become a first time mommy and the rest of life completely takes over. 😉

Way back in August, a month after my girl was born, she had a ton of cute bows, flowers, barrettes, etc. and no real place to put them. Especially a place where I could easily see them and pick one to match her outfit. So, I decided to make her very own bow holders. Plural because one just wouldn’t be big enough for all the pretty hair accessories this girl had already collected!

The materials needed include:

Wooden Craft Plaque (I used two purchased from Hobby Lobby for $2.99 each)
Craft Paint
Paint Brushes
Vinyl (for the personalization, I cut Klara’s name out of white vinyl using my Silhouette machine)
Glue gun and glue sticks
Ribbon
Flat head thumb tacks
Craft rhinestones

Step 1: Paint your wood craft plaques. I painted mine pink and purple with brown accents to match the other colors of Klara’s bedroom.

Step 2: If you’re like I was at the time, take a moment while your plaques dry to enjoy your sleeping baby and a cup of tea… oh… and the drying laundry hung over the dining table chairs. You do what you gotta do as a new mommy, right?! 😉

On a side note can we just take a minute and sigh over how tiny my girl was at one month old!!! She’s nine months old now and there’s no way she’d fit in that cute little bed anymore, much less stay in it… haha

Step 3: Once your plaques are completely dry, add the vinyl lettering for the names. I chose to use Klara’s first and middle name. Again, like I mentioned above, I cut out the names in white vinyl using my Silhouette machine and then applied them using transfer paper.

Step 4: Hot glue a strip of ribbon to make a loop on the top of each plaque for hanging. Then hot glue three strips of ribbon to the bottom of each plaque for the hair accessories. After I hot glued the ribbons I added the flat head tacks for added support. I just really wanted it to hold up well. {Side note, so far it has! 8 months + later and there are WAY more hair accessories on them now!} The ribbon I used was a cute set of cowgirl ribbon, to match Klara’s bedroom theme, also purchased from Hobby Lobby.

Step 5: After hanging them up as they were at this point I decided they lacked sparkle and hot glued three rhinestones to each plaque to fancy them up a bit… Much better! Then just hang on the wall and had your hair pretties!

Felt Jack O’ Lantern Treat Bag

One of my favorite holidays is right around the corner! As an October baby, I have always had a special place in my heart for Halloween. It could also be because my parents went out of their way to make it fun for me and my siblings…

So here’s a quick and easy craft to help you and your little ones get into the spirit of Halloween!

A Jack-o-Lantern treat bag!!!

DIY Halloween Treat Bag

Materials needed:

Felt – I used a sheet of orange and just a little bit of green (for the stem)
Clear plastic wrap
Scissors
Glue gun and a stick of glue
Yarn

First, you want to trace your pumpkin shape onto the orange felt. I just folded my sheet in half and traced on one side, then cut out my shape to have two sides of the pumpkin. You’ll also want two pieces of green for the stem. (I just cut two rectangles.)

Next, you’ll want to draw on your Jack ‘o Lantern face. (The kiddos can help with this one, unless you’re making it as a Halloween surprise!) And cut it out with the scissors. You only want the face on one side…

Because the other side needs a slit in the back so you can stuff goodies inside later on…

Now, cut a sheet of the clear plastic wrap, I doubled mine over for extra strength and hot glue it to the inside of the jack ‘o lantern side. This makes it so you can see through the face at the goodies in the treat bag! Trim any excess.

Make sure the ‘stem’ is on the inside and hot glue your two pumpkin sides together, front to back. Glue shut all the way around.

While you’re waiting for the hot glue to dry well, take three strands of yarn and braid a strip for your ‘handle’.

Hot glue your braided handle to the back of your pumpkin.

Now you can stuff your Felt Jack ‘O Lantern Halloween treat bag full of treats! Candy is always nice… but glow sticks, spider rings, and other small toys would be fun too!

For a fun new Halloween tradition, hang your treat bag on the kiddo’s bedroom door for them to find and enjoy! If you have a little doggie to guard the goodies until the kiddos find it… even better! 😉

Rustic Mason Jar Centerpieces

Disclosure: I received the materials for this project from Consumer Crafts as part of a campaign for The Blueprint Social.

This past Saturday I hosted a bridal shower for one of my best friends. The theme? Rustic but feminine. I have several fun photos from the shower itself to show you and I will sometime next week, but today let’s focus on the centerpieces!

To make these centerpieces you’ll need:

16 oz. Mason Jars
Burlap Ribbon
Suede Lace
Glue (Although I ended up using a hot glue gun after realizing the glue I chose was meant to glue glass to glass…)
Bandanas

Step 1: Measure, cut and glue burlap ribbon around the center of each mason jar. To glue the ribbon down I drew a strip of hot glue in the center of each jar, wrapped the ribbon around and drew another strip of glue over the top of the first strip.

Step 2: Measure, cut and wrap a piece of the suede lace around the center of each mason jar, centered over the burlap. Tie the ends in a knot. I didn’t glue down the suede lace so I can easily change it out for future parties. You might use white ribbon for a wedding, pink lace for a little girl’s birthday, etc…

Step 3: Place a bandana in the center of your table, center a mason jar on the bandana and fill the mason jar with baby’s breath flowers! Viola! Centerpiece complete.

Bonus Step: Use extra mason jars to hold utensils and extra bandanas as table decorations on the food table. Utilizing the extra materials ties the rest of the bridal shower decorations together.

I may have even used extra materials to make a ‘bridal shower mason jar wishing well’ instead of a guest book for the bride! 😉 I hope you’ll stop back by next week to see that project!

DIY Baby Closet Dividers

Today I have the very first baby craft I did for our little miss… Hope you enjoy! 😉

Ever since we announced that we are expecting and the gender of our little one, we’ve been receiving some of the cutest baby clothes from our friends as gifts. I’ll be honest… there for awhile I had them all stuck in a box and stored in our bedroom. Then we got a changing table for baby’s room so I moved the box in onto the changing table… That’s the way things have stayed for months. Every time we get something new it just got added to the pile.

At about 30 weeks into this pregnancy I decided it might be a good time to get baby’s closet set up and organized. I have a friend that just had a baby boy a few months ago and she said she had trouble keeping track of what she had in what sizes… My solution was to google baby closet dividers. Sure you can buy them at Wal-Mart for a few bucks, but they lack personality… So… I made my own!

The materials needed for this craft include:

Wooden door hangers
Your choice of craft paper (I used some pretty rose scrapbook paper I found at Wal-Mart.)
Mod Podge
Brush
Small paint brush and paint to match your scrapbook paper
Baby clothes hangers

Step 1: Trace your wooden door hanger onto a sheet of the craft paper. Lesson learned here… those wooden hangers are not all cut exactly the same… Each one needs to be traced or you can end up with paper that doesn’t fit your door hanger. Then just cut out your tracings with scissors.

Step 2: I painted the sides that wouldn’t be covered with paper just to add a fun pop of color. You don’t have to do this step… you can definitely leave it as just the wood grain. Another lesson learned here… Two paint bottles make a great drying ‘rack’.

Step 3: Next decoupage the papers onto your wooden door hangers using a brush and Mod Podge.

Step 4: I designed sizes on my Silhouette SD software. NB for New Born, 0-3 for zero to three months and so on up to 18-24 months. I cut them out on white vinyl to make stickers for each divider. If you don’t have a cutting tool you could just as easily cut out sizes and Mod Podge those on as well, or purchase number stickers from the craft store to use instead.

Step 5: Hang your new baby closet dividers in baby’s closet then fill closet with adorable baby clothes organized by size!!!

Interchangeable Necklaces Styled by Tori Spelling

Step 2: Connect the first necklace bottom to the necklace top using the two connectors. You can see in the photo below, it’s SO easy to do. Simply open the connector and slip the two ends inside. That’s it!

Viola! There’s your first necklace! The necklace bottom shown here is the Five Stone Bib bottom in the Smoke color.

Step 3: Create a completely different look by replacing the first necklace bottom with the second necklace bottom. Simply change it out at the connectors, leaving the connectors attached to the necklace top.

And boom! There’s your second necklace! The necklace bottom shown here is the Leaf and Rhinestone Tri-Color Necklace Botto.

Spring Potted Flower Pens

Hey there pretties! Spring is in full swing here (you could ALMOST call it summer…)!! Even if it’s not quite warming up where you are yet these Spring Potted Flower Pens are sure to brighten your day!

Since we’ve just passed Mother’s Day and all, shout out to our Momma, Lillie. This was another crafty idea that she shared with us and we then made together… You can see another Momma Lillie idea here.

Materials Needed:

Small clay flower pots
Small decorative rock
Fake flowers
Green floral tape
A box of pens
Scissors
Vinyl cutouts or stickers for decorating your flower pots

Start by decorating your flower pots with the Spring vinyl cutouts or stickers. I cut out several butterflies, a few different floral shapes, a few twigs and leaves all in vinyl, then just peeled and stuck them on the flower pots like stickers. Each flower pot then gets filled three quarters full of the small decorative rock.

To create your flower pens wrap a fake flower and a pen with floral tape. I used the long stemmed fake daisies left over from my wedding and just cut down the stems. Place the stem and the top of the pen together and simply wrap all the way down with the tape. The floral tape I used had to be wrapped really tight but it held the pen and flower well while looking like a green stem!

‘Plant’ your flowers in your flower pots by sticking the pens down in the decorative rock and you’re finished! Now you have pretty Spring Potted Flower Pens to display on your desk or give as a spring gift!

DIY Fancy Drink Cozies

Hey there pretties! I don’t think I’ve mentioned it on the blog yet, but this September I am a bridesmaid in two different weddings for two of my closest friends. In case you missed the memo, I am also expecting our first little one this summer, in July to be specific, so around the time I’m supposed to be hosting bachelorette parties, bridal showers and the like I will also be caring for a brand new baby! My plan is to get as much done ahead of time as possible so hopefully I won’t be too stressed out when the time comes. SO today I’m sharing my first bachelorette party project!!

When I think of bachelorette parties words that come to mind are BLING, FANCY, PRETTY! So I went with that theme for my bachelorette party favors and made these fun DIY Fancy Drink Cozies.

To make your own you’ll need:

Foam drink cozies
Bling on a Roll
Feather boa accents
Glue gun and glue sticks
Scissors
Spray adhesive (not pictured below)

First you’ll want to measure how much Bling on a Roll you’ll need to wrap around your cozies, then cut it to fit using the scissors. FYI: It’s super easy to cut into any shape you’d like!!! Then spray the back of your strip with the spray adhesive and wrap it around the cozie making sure it sticks down as you go.

Once all your cozies are blinged out, measure and cut a length of feather boa to go around the top of each cozie, then glue it on using a hot glue gun.

Just keeping it real… crafting with feather boa makes a CRAZY mess!!! But it’s so worth it! 🙂 OH and a quick tip, the feathers vacuum up really easy with one of those little hand vacs!

I’m excited to gift each of the bachelorette party guests with their own fancy drink cozie including the bride herself!
