Western Frame Earring Display

Hi there lovelies!

Today I’m so excited to share my Western Frame Earring Display with you!!!

jewelry organization

So, a couple weeks back I won a frame from Cut it Out frames via Craftionary.
I chose the Chandler 8×10 frame.

First, I painted a few of the edges in a denim blue color (using paint from a paint sample!). I only painted the edges I planned to sand, cutting down on my paint use and painting time!

blue frame edges

Once the edges were completely dry, I sprayed the entire frame in Leather Brown by Krylon. Again, let that dry completely, then I lightly sanded the edges to bring the blue through the brown.

Next, as you can see in the photo below, I measured out where I wanted my nails to go and marked the spots with a pencil point. I used horseshoe nails as my “pegs” for a more western look. Then, I carefully hammered six nails into the frame, three on each side.
Because the Cut it Out frames are made of solid wood, I was pleasantly surprised that the frame didn’t split with the nails! A normal frame might not have worked… just FYI.

I used a thin jewelry wire that I already had on hand and stretched it between two of the horseshoe nails. I just wrapped the wire around the heads of the nails and stretched it to the other side.
I printed a photo of myself and my husband from our engagement photo shoot for the background and put it in the frame.

making an earring frame display

You can see the mess my dangly earrings were in… This earring display was much needed!!!!

All the dangly earrings from my overflowing jewelry box were hung on the wire of the earring display frame.
I hung it on the wall in our bedroom to the right of my dresser. Now I can see all of my earrings and easily choose a set to wear when I get ready each morning!

Any guesses on how much this project cost me???

$0.00!!!
Since I won the frame and had everything else on hand, this pretty was completely FREE!!! Whoot!!!

 Happy crafting lovelies!!!

Bloggie Bestie – Allice of Tutu Land

Hello pretty friends!
Today we are excited to introduce you to…

Allice of Tutu Land!!!

This is her VERY FIRST guest post EVER, so please share some bloggie love with her below (she has an awesome tutorial for you dolls). Then share some love over at her place where I’m guest posting today!
____________

Hi Kassi- Thank you for having me over at your Truly Lovely.  I’m so excited to share my craft room update and my teacup tutorial with your followers- Enjoy!I was browsing Pinterest for some craft room ideas and found a wood teacup shelf that would be perfect in my craft room.  I happened to have one that was handed down to me from my mother and ended up in the garage last year with no plans of ever entering the house again.   I’m so excited that I found a way to give it new life and save a piece of my families treasures.

Heres what you need:
Sanding paper
Spray Paint Primer
Spray Paint in your favorite color (I used Matte)
Spray Paint Laquer
My original teacup shelf
Lay your project down on a sheet and sand
{don’t skip this part- trust me, the paint WILL bubble}
After Sanding, you will spray Primer and let it dry
{I chose quick dry Primer because I’m impatient}

Pretty Paint Time
{Make sure to get all the crevices and underneath the shelf since you will be looking up at it when you hang it}

Time to hang
{Notice all the “Stuff” on my table}

Now I’m all organized
{I put the ribbon on the shelf that I am currently using for orders and projects so it’s close by}

I now have more working room for my projects
{and I love the color- it makes me happy to work in this space}

Did you notice there was no sewing machine in the above picture?
This is why?
Ashley was feeling a little unorganized so she made herself a bed organizer to hold her Ipad, remote control and other secret items
{It’s fun that we can share our craft love}

So I know you think I look sooooo organized, right?
NOT!
Everything is somewhat organized and labeled in the cabinet but needs more help
It’s my next project

So, look around and see what you can find to save, refresh and make new again~

Thanks again for having me over Kassi and I can’t wait to visit again!

Guest Bedroom Reveal

I’ll just go ahead and apologize for skipping around with my projects… 😉
Like Mandi says, don’t judge me! haha. Life gets busy and you move on from one thing to another and before you know it, you haven’t blogged about what you said um…. that you would blog about… Oops.

SO here it is…

The Guest Bedroom Reveal!!

Before (view from the door) and After!

I still feel like it’s a work in progress. Aren’t our homes just one big continual project anyway… :) You know, someday I’ll get a new bed frame, someday I’ll add a headboard… That kind of thing. But regardless, right now, as it is, I’m happy with it.

So… I would LOVE to know what you lovelies think???

You can see we got rid of that entertainment center and replaced it with a small dresser that belonged to my .
The first TV was a hand me down, so we just handed it down again and put the one that used to be in our bedroom in there.

Don’t mind those weird off color spots in the corner of the photo below… That was just my camera picking up the glare I guess…
The painting in this photo was in the hub’s childhood bedroom. It really plays up the gray color of the wall!  The two photos on the right are of my husband (as a kiddo) with his mom and grandpa and then of us with my Granny.
I spray painted the frames as decorations for our wedding, then they found a permanent home in here.
The Scentsy Plug-In is Santa Fe… It has a turquoise center which matches the bedding.

This was the first room I ever painted at all really. The first room I painted entirely by myself.
I talked more about . Sure, there were some painting newbie mistakes, like how the mirror in the corner leaves scratches in the paint…

Probably should’ve done another coat. Or used primer or something… But oh well. You live you learn, right!?! :)

 I talked about . The wall hanging in this photo was a Christmas gift from my friend Meghan.
It’s that Mother Teresa poem, ‘Do It Anyway’ with a photo of a daisy. It was the MOST thoughtful gift… The poem was a favorite of my Mother in Law, and I love gerbera daisies.

The tutorial for the . I bought the teal colored sheets on sale at Wal-Mart for $12! The white pillowcases came from there as well. The comforter was on sale + a wedding gift card from JCPenney netted me that white pretty for $17!!! Originally priced at $110!!!

I won the horse photo print in a blog giveaway from  and spray painted the frame an off white. The mirror in the corner also belonged to my mother in law (as well as the small dresser).

I’m not sure of the overall cost since I worked on this for short spurts at a time over several months. But it wasn’t much! We only bought paint, the curtains and the bedding! Everything else is hand me down, gifted or won! Now that’s MY kind of room makeover!!!
Thanks for checking out our guest bedroom! I would love to know your thoughts!

Painted Gift Tins

Today I’m going to share a fun gift ‘wrap’ idea with you!!!

Painted Gift Tins!

My mom received a huge stash of those Christmas cookie, treat tins from a friend awhile back… It was actually her idea to paint the tins and add some vinyl cut outs to fancy them up! (Obviously where we get a lot of our craftiness from, thanks Mom!!!)
We laid them all out on some newspaper outside and spray painted each tin with a couple of coats of paint.
We used a few different colors and let them dry really well…

Once the tins are painted and dry, it’s time to embellish.
I made this small light pink tin into a birthday gift ‘wrap’ for my niece.

I used white vinyl cut out in her name and some flowers plus little acrylic diamonds to pretty it up.
If you use the sticky back vinyl you can stick the cutouts on just like stickers.
The little jewels were attached with hot glue.

If you don’t have sticky backed vinyl, you can just use regular stickers too! 😉
I filled the tin with several little treats tied it with a ribbon and gave it to our niece for her birthday.
She loved having her own little tin she could fill with her treasures!

We have since made several of these for different gifts… You can use any shape or size of tin and decorate with paint, vinyl, stickers, anything you have on hand to fancy it up!

Happy Crafting!!!

Pretty Picture Frames

In continuing my efforts to pretty up my office space, I decided a few framed photos were in order.
Not just any old frames would do though… So I whipped up a few pretty picture frames! :)

I purchased two smaller frames and one large 8 X 10 frame from Wal-Mart. Just the cheap $3 ones you see on a rack in the middle of the aisle.
I also bought some Krylon spray paint in Ballet Slipper and Blue Ocean Breeze.

I removed the glass from the two smaller frames and sprayed them with the blue paint. First spraying the back and letting it dry overnight, then the fronts. I sprayed the larger frame with the pink color.

Once the frames were completely dry… Meaning I was actually patient for once and let them completely dry for 24 hours…. I ruffed up the edges with a piece of fine grained sandpaper for a distressed look.

Because the frames were a dark brown to begin with, it showed through after the sanding and ended up looking really neat!

Each frame then got either one or two hot glued on. I used the same fabric I used for the rosette on my chalkboard flower pot, trying to maintain a little cohesiveness.

Here are the two small blue frames finished and displayed on my office desk!!

Really that poor picture does not do them justice! Let’s try this one…

Well, you get the idea… 😉 AND that’s my Sweetheart Scentsy warmer!
Did you know in addition to my day job and blogging I also sell Scentsy?!?

The frames are a welcome pop of color in my dull little office cubicle for sure!!!

Check back on Tuesday to see what I did with the larger pink frame!! :)
